Issue/Introduction

When updating a directory configuration in VMware Identity Manager the UI may reflect the changes, but the directory configuration saved to /usr/local/horizon/conf/states/<host>/<connector_id>/config-state.json may remain stale.

Note: All edits to an existing directory such as switching the directory type from LDAP to LDAPS may not work as expected, directory sync may fail until the steps in the resolution below are completed.

Environment

3.3.7

Cause

The appliance may use previously cached information from domain discovery to repopulate the config-state.json file.

Resolution

  1. Login to the VMware Identity Manager administrator console
  2. Go to Identity & Access Management and select the effected Directory
  3. Click on Sync Settings
  4. For each of the following tabs in the Sync Settings pop up validate the information and click save:
    1. Sync Frequency
    2. Domains
    3. Mapped Attributes
    4. Groups
    5. Users
  5. Once you get to the Safeguards select the "Save & Sync"
  6. With the Save & Sync complete, we should see that the information in the config-state.json file is also successfully updated
