Aria Operations Deployment Fails at Step 8 in Aria Suite Lifecycle with Auth Error LCMVROPSYSTEM25122

Issue/Introduction

During a new deployment of VMware Aria Operations using Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager version 8.18, the deployment process failed at Step 8. The error presented was:

LCMVROPSYSTEM25122 – "Unknown Error during VMware Aria Operations deployment"

This error appeared specifically during the task of adding an authentication source (VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7). As a user, this resulted in a complete block of the deployment process, with no ability to proceed without manual intervention or skipping the task.

Symptoms & Error Output

  • Deployment halts at Step 8.

  • Lifecycle Manager UI shows:

    • LCMVROPSYSTEM25122

    • "Exception encountered during adding auth source."

  • Log output from /var/log/vmware-vmsc.log:

Environment

  • Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18.x
  • Aria Operations 8.18.x
  • VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7

 

Resolution

Procedure

  1. Use the Skip Task feature in Aria Suite Lifecycle to bypass the Add vIDM Auth Source step.

    1. Change the value to true in the request in Aria Suite Lifecycle and retry the request.
  2. Once the deployment is completed, log into Aria Operations > Administration > Control Panel > Authentication Source

  3. Manually create the Authentication Source back to vIDM

    • For Source Display Name uuse the value vIDMAuthSource within the vROps UI.

    • Recreated the Catalog Bookmark entries in vIDM for service integration.

    • Add instructions for this bookmark creation
