Issue/Introduction

  • VMs are unable to restore to a previous working state via vSAN Data Protection Snapshot.
  • In the /var/log/vmware/snapservice/snap-service.log via the Data Protect Appliance, there is the following entree:

{"level":"error","timestamp":"2025-05-09T00:45:27.777Z","C":"vcenter/file_manager.go:133","message":"HTTP GET request on https://datacenter.example.com/folder/ea9e0668-8419-0a71-fe51-############/421979d5-b4f1-8e57-9a59-############/724d32f1-acdc-4d7b-8dd0-############/VM_Name_6.vmdk?dcPath=#####+Datacenter&dsName=vsanDatastore failed with status code 404"

  • The datacenter where the vSAN cluster resides is in a subfolder within vCenter
