Issue/Introduction

The specific error encountered in the SDDC UI at task Removing cluster xxx from domain xxx is -

  • Description - Prepare Input Data for NSX Deployed Services Validation
  • Progress Messages - Failed to fetch validate NSX service deployments input data
  • Cause -  Expected 1 but did not find any MORs of a type DistributedVirtualSwitch and name vds-xxxxx

Environment

VCF 5.x

Cause

One Managed Object Reference (MOR) of a type DistributedVirtualSwitch and a name of  vds-xxxxx is expected to be returned when the workflow is being run.

A count of one is expected, when a count of zero is returned, as is the case here - then the error encountered will be seen.

SDDC Manager has the DistributedVirtualSwitch name recorded as vds-xxxxx.

vCenter has it named as vds-yyyyy.

This inconsistency is causing the issue, and likely exists because the DVS has been renamed outside of SDDC on the vCenter.

Resolution

Please implement this article to rename the DistributedVirtualSwitch name on the vCenter from vds-yyyyy to vds-xxxxx, thus having the vCenter match what the SDDC has recorded.

Note - vds-xxxxx and vdy-yyyyy above are examples only, and will be different depending on the environment.
