Issue/Introduction

This issue observe 'System-SE-Redis-Conn-Down' alerts for Service Engines (SEs). These alerts indicate the Service Engines unable to access the se_shared_db Redis instances on ports 5027 and 5028 over the secure channel with Avi Controller.

Environment

  • This issue specifically affects Avi Load Balancer deployments running versions 31.1.1

Cause

  • The root cause of these alerts is that the se_shared_db Redis instances on ports 5027 and 5028 were never initiated on the controller. While Redis instances on ports 5021 through 5026 are successfully started and accessible to the Service Engines, the critical instances on ports 5027 and 5028, which are necessary for the SEs to function correctly, are missing. The alerts are triggered because the SEs are unable to establish a connection to these unstarted Redis instances, leading to the perception of a secure channel issue, which is incorrect.

Resolution

  • This issue is resolved in the maintenance releases 31.1.2 and 31.2.1. Upgrading to one of these versions will ensure that all necessary se_shared_db Redis instances are correctly started on the controller, thereby resolving the connectivity issues and the associated alerts.

Additional Information

  • Versions 22.x and 30.x are not affected by this issue.
