Abend S722 in Top secret STC

Issue/Introduction

The following message appears in the Top Secret STC :

TSS9680A CA-TSS MAINTASK MANAGER ABEND S722

 

TSS must be restarted.

This article explains a reason for this abend S722.

Environment

Top Secret 16.0

 

Cause

The abend S722 is produced because the ESTBYTE JES2 initialization parameter is coded as :

 

 $HASP845 ESTBYTE  NUM=150000,INT=10000,OPT=1

 

OPT Specifies the action JES2 takes when a job exceeds the estimated spool utilization as specified by the NUM= parameter. The OPT=1 is documented as:

Job is canceled without a dump

 

 

Resolution

Change the OPT to 0 to not cancel the job or use Exit 9 to bypass this limit for the Top Secret STC. (This is explained in the documentation of ESTBYTE statement )
