VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

  • During deployment of CBAM related VNFs, timeouts are observed between nodes in CBAM logs.
  • Affected VMs do not have IP addresses assigned in vCenter.
  • VM Tools is not running.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Director
  • Nokia CBAM

Cause

  • CBAM deployed virtual machines fail to boot into their operating system, and are instead booting into a GRUB loader.
  • This prevents VMware Tools from starting, which is required for IP address allocation.

Resolution

  • Validate the CBAM VMs in vCenter to confirm if they are booting into their OS.
  • Engage with Nokia to investigate the OS disk health and boot process.
  • Ensure the latest CBAM image is used and verified for compatibility with VCD.
