Error: "query did not return a unique result: #" when editing the network interface of a VM

Issue/Introduction

• When editing the NIC settings for a VM with a Direct vApp Network, you see an error similar to:
  
  [ ########-####-####-####-########de22 ] query did not return a unique result: #
  
  
• In the IP Usage view of the Organization VDC Network, you see the IP address listed as in use by the VM you are editing and at least once more with no VM or vApp association.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.1.1

Cause

This issue can occur if Cloud Director has stale network network interface references mapped to the impacted IP address its database.
