Issue/Introduction

  • Instantiation failing with below message:
[ XXXXXXXX ] The operation failed because no suitable resource was found. Out of 1 candidate hubs: 
1 storage containers rejected because: They do not have enough storage capacity.  Rejected storage containers: [Name of Datastore]
- PlacementException NO_FEASIBLE_PLACEMENT_SOLUTION

vcloud-container-debug.log:

Cannot use datastore cluster [Name of the cluster] for subject [type:VIRTUAL_MACHINE_DISK, URI:VmDiskRef://NEW_DISK/0?5#1] because the container does not have enough free space: free=1,748,963 MB, required=1,843,200 MB

Cause

During the instantiation while deploying the VM's disks there is no longer space to proceed as per requirements

Resolution

Increase space on Datastore or change storage policy to allow other Datastores to be used or add new Datastore to the Datastore cluster
