Issue/Introduction

  • HBA stops reporting even after a reboot
  • Unable to see the Hardware in the vCenter Host or ESXi ui Hardware configuration

Cause

Hardware Failure

  • Using Host ssh command line:
    #  /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmgmt_keyval/vmkmgmt_keyval -d
    Dumping all key-value instance names:
    Key Value Instance:  vmnic1/QLogic
    Key Value Instance:  vmnic0/QLogic
    Key Value Instance:  MOD_PARM/qlogic
    #  /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmgmt_keyval/vmkmgmt_keyval -l -i vmhba64/q
    logic
    Failed to read key-value instance 'vmhba64/qlogic'
  • May see events in the VMkernel.log:
