Issue/Introduction

Within vCenter Server, alarms exist for vSAN-related events. These alarms can be configured to send emails when triggered, presuming the steps 1-5 from "Setting Up Email Notifications for Alarms generated in vCenter Server" have already been completed.

Resolution

To configure vSAN alarms so that emails are sent when triggered:

  1. Log in to your vCenter Server with the [email protected] user.
  2. Click the root vCenter object in the inventory.
  3. Click the Configure tab.
  4. Click Alarm Definitions.
  5. On the Alarm Name column, click the filter icon and type "vSAN" then press the enter key.
  6. For any of these alarms you can select them by clicking the bubble button to the left of the Alarm Name, and then click the "Edit" button.
  7. Click "Next" to get to the Alarm Rule 1 page.
  8. Toggle the "Send email notifications" button, then edit the Subject and Email to lines.
  9. Proceed though the rest of the Edit Alarm Definition view. This should now send emails to addresses specified, when the edited alarm is triggered.
