Issue/Introduction

When trying to edit or browse a member with CA Librarian ELIPS, get a file allocation error. Hitting PF1 to display extended information shows:

DDNAME: LIBITDD1
DSNAME:

THE SYSTEM HAS REJECTED ALLOCATION OF THE ABOVE DATASET FOR THE FOLLOWING
REASONS:
IKJ56241I UTILITY DATA SET NOT ALLOCATED+

Environment

CA Librarian V4.4

Cause

This error normally indicates that ELIPS is unable to use the device type named in the ELIPSGEN UNIT= keyword

This device type is used to allocate the transient files needed when editing or browsing CA Librarian Master file members. The default is UNIT=VIO

Resolution

1.  In the ELIPSGEN member  LUELIGEN in the CALJJCL library, change the UNIT= keyword from VIO to SYSDA or to any device type suitable for this purpose. Ensure that there is disk space available under the specified device type.

2.  Reassemble and link the updated ELIPSGEN to enable the change.
