PTF LU13875 prevents SMTP hostname greater than 8 characters

Issue/Introduction

We recently applied PTF LU13875 and are no longer able to assemble the SMTP email table. As documented in the PTF, the hostname parm was not being checked and lengths of greater than 8 were being allowed. The PTF closed this loophole. The problem for us is that our hostname has always been 9 characters. Is there a reason for hostname being limited to 8 characters?

SMTP hostname has always been limited to 8 characters but prior to the PTF, the hostname was simply truncated without any notification to the user. To pass the new requirement, the hostname needs to be limited to 8 characters.
