vSAN Storage controller not able to detect disks for use in vSAN

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• After adding a new host to the vSAN cluster, the disks are not visible under the vSAN storage controller in Host > Configure > Storage Adapters, as shown below:

• The output of the command esxcfg-scsidevs -A, when run through the ESXi host CLI, shows that no disks are currently visible to the vSAN storage controller.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x
VMware vSAN 8.x

 

Cause

This issue can occur if the vSAN storage controller is not configured with the supported disk config mode

 

Resolution

To resolve the issue, Configure Storage controller  with supported disk config mode.

To check which disk config modes are supported by the controller vSAN Hardware Compatibility List (HCL)
