Issue/Introduction
Trying to vMotion a virtual machine from one host to another host.
A general system error occurred: DVS error: see faultCause Cannot create Distributed Port Group <name of port group> of VDS VDSwitch on the host <hostname> Cause: Cannot complete a vSphere Distributed Switch operation for one or more host members.
Resolution
To resolve this issue with the vMotion, confirm that there is this error "The vSphere Distributed Switch configuration on some hosts differed from that of the vCenter Server."
Please gather networking information from the affected host.
Once the information is gathered, follow the steps:
On the Distributed Virtual Switch, go to "Add and Manage Hosts"
Select "Add Hosts"
Select the host that will need to be added and click "Next".
In "Manage physical adapters", assign the uplinks to the correct vmnics.
In "Manage VMkernel adapters", assign the port group the the vmk#, if necessary.
In "Migrate VM networking", select the VMs, if necessary. Select Finish
Once the host is added, "The vSphere Distributed Switch configuration on some hosts differed from that of the vCenter Server." error would resolve.
