Issue/Introduction

After converting a VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) instance to a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) deployment, the Export Tag feature fails to function correctly.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.0

Cause

During the conversion from VVF to VCF:

  • The system's /tmp directory is cleared as part of the conversion.
  • A required temporary folder used by the tagging plugin (/tmp/tagging_tasks*) is removed.
  • Unlike in upgrade scenarios, the analytics engine is not restarted after conversion.
  • As a result, the tagging plugin does not recreate the necessary /tmp/tagging_tasks* directory, causing the export operation to fail.

Resolution

Workaround:

Manually bring cluster Offline & then Online after converting from VVF to VCF using the steps provided in Rebooting nodes in Aria Operations

This triggers initialization of the tagging plugin and recreates the required temporary folder.
