Agent is managed by the wrong cloud proxy in the Manage Telegraf Agents page

Issue/Introduction

• You are unable to redeploy Telegraph [sic] agents
• Telegraf agent is pointing to an old single cloud proxy which has been retired.
• You have moved to using a cluster of cloud proxy nodes in a HA enabled collector group instead of a single cloud proxy.
• You are unable to reinstall or manage the existing telegraf agent installed.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The first time you use the Aria Operations UI to install a telegraf agent on any VM in a vCenter, a VMware Aria Operations Application Monitoring Adapter is created that maps the relationship of the vCenter to a cloud proxy or HA enabled collector group for all future agent lifecycle management for all VMs in that vCenter.

Resolution

• Use the steps in How to Delete the Application Monitoring vCenter to Cloud Proxy Mapping Via API to delete and recreate the vCenter mapping to the desired cloud proxy or HA enabled collector group.
• If there are existing telegraf agents referring to a non-existent cloud proxy for management, they will need to be uninstalled manually using steps from Manually Remove Telegraf Agents from Endpoints and then reinstalled in the Manage Telegraf Agents page.
