Segment Name in Quotes During vMotion from N-VDS to C-VDS

Issue/Introduction

When performing a vMotion from a host with N-VDS to a host with C-VDS, the source segment name remains unchanged, but the destination segment name appears with quotes around it.

Please find the screenshot below, where the source segment name is the same as the destination segment name, but with double quotes around it 

On both NSX and vCenter, the segment does not contain quotes around it.

 

Environment

VMware NSX-T Datacenter

Cause

When the destination segment resides on a different host switch, whether N-VDS or CVDS, the segment name appears in quotes.

Resolution

This is expected behaviour.

vMotion functioned properly, and no impact was observed.
