Issue/Introduction

  • Operation Configure Source Side Data- Flow Rules failed.
Reason: Unable to post Iwd configuration - Operation Configure Source Side Data-Flow Rules failed. Reason: Unable to post lwd configuration

  • When checking the VM directly on the vCenter, you may also notice the below configuration issue: "No Connection to VR Server: Unknown".
Note: This error can be observed across multiple different scenarios.

Environment

HCX

Cause

The operation failed because HCX was unable to apply the Lightweight Delta (LWD) replication configuration on the source side, likely due to a communication issue or synchronization problem between the HCX Manager, Interconnect appliance(IX), and vCenter/ESXi.

Resolution

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps,

  • Run a Diagnostics/Health Check
    • In the HCX UI, navigate to Interconnect > Service Mesh > Run Diagnostics and review the results for any errors.
  • Clear stale or orphaned replication tasks
  • Review HCX Manger and Interconnect(IX) logs for more details.
    • Example:
      • Review the IX appliance message log file (/var/log/messages) for any related errors or warnings.

  • Check appliance and their service health from HCX Management Interface: https://<hcx-ip-or-fqdn>:9443.
  • Restart HCX services if any appear unhealthy.
  • Restart the HCX Interconnect (IX) appliance if it appears unhealthy and there are no active migrations or replications in progress.
