Virtual machine running Windows Server OS reports warning in event logs vsepflt does not support bypass IO

Issue/Introduction

• Microsoft Windows Server OS reports below warinings in Windows System event logs

System             Event ID 11      Warning              FilterManager "File System Filter 'vsepflt' (Version 10.0, ‎yyyy-‎mm-‎ddThh:mm:ss.000000000Z) does not support bypass IO.  Supported features: 0x4."

• Virtual machine has the  "NSX File and NSX Network Introspection" component installed in VMtools.

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.0.x

VMware ESXi 8.0.x

 

Cause

File System Filter vsepflt does not support Bypass IO.

Resolution

File System Filter vsepflt does not support Bypass IO on Windows Server OS. Refer to MSFT document
