Issue/Introduction
- When attempting to import an OVF in VMware Cloud Director, the process fails with a platform error reported from vCenter and ESXi.
- Hosts are unable to communicate, resulting in DRS imbalance and NSX resource contention.
- OVF import fails in VCD with a platform error.
- Host communication errors observed in logs.
- DRS is unable to rebalance workloads.
- NSX Managers are unreachable, affecting resource distribution and host to host networking.
Environment
- VMware Cloud Director 10.3
- vCenter & ESXi 7.0
- NSX 3.2
Cause
- The NICs on the NSX Manager VMs are disconnected, isolating the managers from the network.
- This prevents host to host communication, causing DRS failures and NSX resource constraints.
Resolution
- Reconnect the NICs on the NSX Manager VMs.
- Verify host communication is restored by initiating vMotion of a VM to another compute resource.
- Confirm that DRS rebalancing and NSX resource distribution are operating correctly.
