Issue/Introduction

We have noticed that the project Track Mode and Open for Time Entry (OTE) flag are being updated by MSP even if the user has not updated those settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a new Project with Open for Time Entry off and Track Mode as None
  2. Open the Clarity project in MSP
  3. Close without making any changes
  4. Make project open for time and track mode = PPM
  5. Created a process to lock Open for Time and Track Mode fields
  6. Instead of using ‘Open in Scheduler’ in Clarity, open the previously downloaded mpp file directly from MSP
  7. Make a change
  8. Go to CA PPM Integration tab
  9. Click Save
  10. You will receive ‘Project is not currently locked.  Do you wish to save anyway?’
  11. Click Yes

Expected Results: The project Track Mode is set to PPM and the OTE flag is on

Actual Results: Open for Time Entry is unchecked and the Track Mode is None.

Resolution

The scenario described on this article is not a defect.

This happens due to the data being stale, since we have a local copy where the project (open for time entry and track mode) are set with different values. The data present at the Clarity server is different than local file representation of the project.

So here in such case we do have necessary restrictions in system where when a user wants to update the project with MSP/OWB we lock the project, so that we can maintain data consistency.

If you are experiencing this behavior, but the Steps to Reproduce the issue are different, please contact Support to analyze the scenario.
