Issue/Introduction

When attempting to create an alert for a group of 'Adapter instance is down' conditions tied to a Service Level Objective, the UI enters a perpetual loading state and does not proceed.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The issue occurs because the object type selected does not match the expected base object type. This mismatch causes the UI to fail in processing the alert creation.

Resolution

  • Ensure the base object type selected is ‘Service Level Objective’ and proceed to the next step.
  • Click on the “Select specific object” option and choose the relevant custom group you previously created.
  • Select the custom group and click the “Select” button, then proceed to use the appropriate metric to define the alert.
  • Alternatively, adjust the “Defined on” filter to “Descendant” with the path container > Service Level Objective, then choose the custom group to create the alert definition.
  • Optionally, modify the wait and cancel cycle settings to improve data collection timing.
