Data Collector shows as "Unavailable" after upgrade from 24.3.6 to 24.3.8

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to 24.3.8 the data collector is showing as unavailable. The karaf.log shows the following exception:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Exception instantiating lock class org.apache.karaf.main.lock.SimpleFileLock

Karaf can't startup, make sure the log file can be accessed and written by the user starting Karaf : /apps/IMDataCollector/apache-karaf-4.4.6/lock (Permission Denied).

 

Cause

Files/Directory permissions issue.

Resolution

 Ensure that */apache-karaf/data belongs to the install owner and restart the Data Collector service.
