Issue/Introduction

Customer would like to find out how to retrieve all Alert Definition.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

No cause.  Just a request for method to retrieve Alert Definitions.

Resolution

There are several methods to retrieve the Alert Definitions:

• Exporting of Alert Definitions via Aria Operations UI.
  • Login to Aria Operations UI as admin.
  • Browse to Administration > Control Panel > Content Management
  • Click on "Export" Tab, select "Alert Definitions", then click "Export" to export.
  • The data will be exported in.xml format.
• Exporting of Alert Definitions via Suite-API.
  • Go to http://Aria_Operations_FQDN/suite-api/
  • Click on "Authorize" and login with admin username/password.
  • Click and expand "Alerts".
  • Click on "Get /api/alertdefinitions", then click "Try it out"
  • A 200 response will provide an entire list of Alert Definitions in JSON format for download.
