Issue/Introduction

Trying to connect to a Linux system running xrdp, there are errors. For instance, but not only

Similar errors may happen when trying to use the RDP proxy

Environment

CA PAM all versions up and including 4.2.2, possibly later versions as well

Cause

xrdp is not supported in CA PAM connecting through the applet. It may work for some versions, especially old ones, but it is not guaranteed to work well

The same can be said of using the RDP proxy to connect to an xrdp machine

In older versions of CA PAM this may work as part of the problem is likely bound to the encryption libraries used by the product when establishing the rdp connection

Resolution

As of the writing of this document, May 2025, there is no solution and it is not expected that such solution will exist in the near future
