Issue/Introduction

    After replacing vCenter machine ssl certificate the vCenter shows com.vmware.vim.vmomi.core.exception.CertificateValidationException: Server certificate chain is not trusted and thumbprint verification is not configured

Environment

VMware vCenter 8.0.3

VMware vSphere replication 9.0.2

VMware Site Recovery Manager

Cause

After replacing vCenter Machine SSL certificate the current Thumbprint changes so in the existing registration thumbprint mismatches with the new vCenter certificate thumbprint

Resolution

Log into vSphere replication or Site Recovery VAMI and reconfigure:

Site Recovery Manager VAMI: https://<SRM-appliance>:5480

Replication VAMI: https://<vSphere-Replication-Appliance-IP>:5480

Under vCenter Registration:

  • Click Reconfigure.

  • Enter the vCenter Server admin credentials and leave the rest as default

  • Accept certificate warnings if prompted
