Host not entering maintenance mode, the task is stuck at 87%

Issue/Introduction

The maintenance mode task is stuck at 87% stating Objects evacuated: #### of ####, Data evacuated: 0MB of 0MB

Environment

vSAN ESA

Cause

A damaged vSAN ESA data object is unable to finalize a previously issued operation related to rebuild or reconfiguration. As this operation has not been completed the data evaluation to allow the host to enter maintenance mode cannot complete. 

This is confirmed by the UI task message of Objects Evacuated and Data Evacuated continuously indicating 1 object and 0 MB remaining points to a single object blocking the task.

Resolution

Open a case with VMware by Broadcom support to identify the problem object and take corrective action. Once the problematic object is addressed the host will enter maintenance mode.
