NSX Global Managers (GMs) are deployed in an Active/Standby cluster configuration.
In this scenario, the NSX Global Managers were initially deployed using the full-version OVA. Subsequently, the appliances were upgraded using the Limited Edition (LE) version, which resulted in the Global Managers operating as Limited Edition instances without performing a full offboard/onboard or removing existing GM objects.
At the same time, the customer deployed NSX Local Managers (LMs) using the full product version and applied full licenses accordingly.
During the Global Manager deployment process, the Limited Edition OVA was downloaded and deployed in error, and the fully licensed Local Managers were onboarded to these Limited Edition Global Managers.
Vmware NSX
The issue occurred because the Limited Edition (LE) Global Manager OVA was mistakenly downloaded and deployed instead of the full-version OVA. As a result, fully licensed Local Managers were onboarded to Global Managers running the Limited Edition build, leading to a version and licensing mismatch.
