Issue/Introduction

Failed to deactivate supervisor, it keeps deleting file from an inaccessible vSANdatastore.

The status of "Delete file" task is:

Datastore '<vsanDatastore1>' is not accessible. "No connected and accessible host with required privilege is attached to this datastore."

Environment

VMware vSphere with Tanzu

Cause

There are 3 vSphere zones in this vCenter.  The Esxi hosts in one cluster have been added to another vCenter. But these Esxi hosts  are still left in this vCenter.

The hosts status are Disconnected in the original vCenter, and vSAN datastore  for this cluster is  in inaccessible status.

When the supervisor is deactivated, it tries to delete file from this vSAN datastore.

As this datastore is inaccessible,  the delete action fails.

The task keeps trying delete file from this inaccessible datastore, and the delete action always fails.

Resolution

To fix the issue, the inaccessible vSAN datastore must be removed.

This is harmless, because these Esxi hosts are actually used by another vCenter, there is no reason to keep the Esxi hosts in the previous vCenter.

Remove all the Esxi hosts in the cluster from the original vCenter.

Then the vSAN datastore for this cluster disappears .

After the inaccessible datastore is removed, restart all vCenter services, then this issue is fixed.
