Getting error while attempting to pair replication appliances

Issue/Introduction

A disaster recovery administrator faces the following errors when attempting to pair a vCenter using 7.0.3 with VLR 8.7 to a vCenter on 8.03 using VLR on version 9.0.2

Operation Failed Cannot complete the pair operation because version 'MISSING PLACEHOLDER' of the remote vSphere Replication Management Server is not supported.

Need to Pair VC 7.03 / vrep 8.7 to VC 8.03 / vRep 9.02

 

Environment

ESXi 7.0U3

VLR 8.7

ESXi 8.0U3

VLR 9.0.2

Cause

These two versions of VLR are not compatible.

VRMS support N-1 configuration but not N-2

Resolution

Upgrade VLR to 8.8 to maintain the N-1 compatibility
