SRM Recovery Plan Test fails with error: No host is compatible with the virtual machine

Issue/Introduction

  • When performing a 'Test' of a Recovery Plan, a VM fails to power on due to the error:  No host is compatible with the virtual machine

 

Unable to power on the placeholder VM on the disaster recovery side due an EVC error:

Environment

Live Site Recovery 9.0 +

Site Recovery Manager 8.7 +

Cause

The source (production) VM has processor features configured via EVC:

The CPU Mode Feature Set is not present on any of the target side (disaster recovery) side ESXi hosts.

Thus we see the error 'No host is compatible with the virtual machine' when the VM is trying to be powered on.

Resolution

The EVC configuration will need to be disabled for the affected VM.

The VM will need to be powered off for the EVC configuration to be disabled.

Once the EVC configuration was been disabled, re-run the Recovery Plan 'Test'.
