Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• VEEAM backup tools fails to complete backup and fails with below error,
  
  
• Placeholder VMs are healthy and active.

Environment

VMware Live Recovery 9.x

 

Cause

The current issue occurs if Veeam backup tool detects placeholder VMs in datastore. Backup fails for placeholder virtual machines (VMs) since they do not operate and remain in a passive state.

Resolution

• In order to exclude Placeholder VMs use below article to run on Veeam Backup.
