Issue/Introduction

Aria Operations for Networks GUI  is not displaying the T0 under the path and topology

Error message seen is Unable to determine path: Unable to find Vnic in VM.######## for Destination INTERNET, as seen in screenshot below:

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.12
VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.13
VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.14

Cause

A defect was identified by the backend engineering team where the edge path for the Tier0 was being utilized in the API calls to NSX to build the diagram instead of the Tier1. This occurred with the switch from the NSX Management API to the NSX Policy API in AON to draw the path

When running the NSX API call in question that AON performs when building the diagram in Postman, we found it returns 0 results, which explains the error message received:

Empty response for ARP Table for Tier0  where tier 1 shows responses

This error was not previously identified because most environments run the T0 and T1 edges in the same clusters, whereas here they are in different clusters, resulting in the incorrect edge path.

Resolution

If you have encountered this issue, ensure you  DO NOT perform any manual reboot procedure of Platform Node(s).

This issue is targeted to be fixed in a future version of Aria Operations for Networks.

Workaround is available for this in Aria Operations for Networks which involves database modification.
