Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to GSS 3.3.12 and applying the SQL fix from KB 381878

You might still notice that in Console UI - the displayed version for this clients would be as Windows 2008.

Cause

GSS 3.3.12 missing new OS Editions for Windows Server 2025 for Console GUI.

Resolution

Attached AlVars.ini file which needs to be replaced in GSS folder.

Download file, remove .txt extension (to bypass any download blockers which might prevent .ini file to be downloaded).

And copy file to GSS eXpress share replacing existing file.

(default location would be on C: drive in C:\Program Files (x86)\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server )

After console restart it would change the Display version of client OS.

This file can be further customized - if you want to display different versions (Standard or Enterprise and etc).

During Console startup, it reads this file - parsing it from top to bottom, and gets the FIRST matched item (as it detects "Windows Server 2025 Standard" - before changes - since it was matching from file only "Windows Server" therefore it was displaying the "Windows 2008" as client OS).

This small changes would be added in next GSS release, and during upgrade or product repair this file would be overwritten.
