How to display the VOLSER for an IDMS file using OLQ

Issue/Introduction

An OLQ QFILE report currently displays information on IDMS database files from the dictionary record FILE-1039:  SEGMENT, AREA, DDNAME and  DSNAME.

I also want to report the VOLSER for a file. Where in the dictionary is the VOLSER stored?

Resolution

The volser for a file is not stored anywhere in the dictionary.  

It is only available in memory at runtime when the file is opened by the IDMS CV.

The volser can be displayed with command DCMT D FILE.
