Issue/Introduction

  • You are not able to install the telegraf agent on VMs from VMware Aria Operations UI.
  • All pre-requisite TCP ports 443, 4505, and 4506 are allowed from endpoint VM to cloud proxy and TCP port 443 from cloud proxy to ESX host
  • Aria Operations is at the latest version
  • You receive an error Installation Failed in the Manage Telegraf Agents page
    • Hovering the cursor over the error icon shows
PrerequisiteCheckException: VC port connectivity check failed for <vCenter>:443

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The vCenter to cloud proxy mapping is incorrect and referring to a cloud proxy or collector group that no longer exists in the environment.

Resolution

  1. Use the steps in KB 396307 to delete the mapping and recreate it with the correct cloud proxy or collector group.
  2. Attempt the telegraf agent install again
