Objects discovered by the Management Pack for Network Devices do not include the parent device name as part of the child object name

Issue/Introduction

When viewing objects collected by the Aria Operations Management Pack for Network Devices, child objects such as switch ports do not include the parent device name in the object name. 

For example, when viewing a switch port, only Ethernet1/12 would be included in the name instead of <device name>:Ethernet1/12.

 

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The management pack is working as designed and does not include the device name in child object names. 

Resolution

Rename the objects you wish to include the parent device name on. 

1. Go to Operations > Configuration > Inventory Management > Adapter Instances > Network Devices 
2. Expand Network Devices and select the adapter instance you wish to rename objects on. 
3. In the pane to the right, select the device from the list and click the pencil icon to edit and rename it.
