vSAN datastore total size is not correct

Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

• vSAN clusters with the same size and number of disks are having different available space.
  
  
  
   

Validation:

• Cluster with larger size has more disks added to the disk group. Select the vSAN cluster > Configure > Disk Management > Select vSAN node > View Disks > Expand the disk group.

Environment

VMware vSphere vSAN 7.x

VMware vSphere vSAN 8.x

Cause

• Adding the disks physically to the vSAN node doesn't add the disk to the disk group automatically. 

Resolution

• Manually add disks to the disk group. Follow Add Devices to the Disk Group in vSAN Cluster.
  
  
• In case there are any critical skyline health alerts like "vSAN cluster configuration consistency" on the vSAN cluster, then please fix them first.
  
  
• If a partition is present on the unclaimed disk, remove the partition before adding it to the vSAN cluster. For detailed instructions on removing partitions, Remove Partition From Devices.
