Issue/Introduction

Storage Latency is seen on multiple hosts in the same cluster in the vCenter UI
Reports from guest OS users for high latency and slow OS
All hosts are configured with the same hardware, drivers, firmware, and storage

Storage controller model UCS VIC1440


No storage errors are seen from the logs or the array

Environment

Cause

When using Determining Network/Storage firmware and driver version in ESXi to compare the current Drivers and Firmware to the  Broadcom Compatibly Guide we can see they are down level and not current. 

 

Resolution

Using Determining Network/Storage firmware and driver version in ESXi compare the current driver and firmware to the Broadcom Compatibly Guide to confirm the latest driver and firmware for the storage controller. 


Update Storage controller to the newest recommended driver and firmware based on the Broadcom Compatibly Guide or the hardware vendors direction. 

Steps for Download and install async drivers in VMware ESXi

Firmware upgrades should be done based off hardware vendors instructions
If assistance is needed with a firmware upgrade, engage with the hardware vendor.
