Issue/Introduction

You are receiving the following error in the vSphere replication Interface when attempting to break site pair.
Operation Failed Unable to disconnect sites because there are active replications.

Trying to remove the active replications will result in the error
A runtime error occurred in the vSphere Replication Management Server. Exception details: 'Failed to compute capabilities of pairing with UUID'

Environment

vSphere Replication

Cause

Active Replications will prevent the site pair from being broken. Due to errors in site connectivity issues showing the pairing to be not connected on both sites the replications might not be able to be removed from the interface. This can occur when one side of replication gets partly removed from the replication site pairing but other site retains all information about the pair.

Resolution

You will need to remove the replications before breaking the site pair. This can be fixed two ways:

After performing one of the above KBs you can break site pairs.
