Issue/Introduction

When running a 'Reprotect' within a Recovery Plan you see the following error:

"Unable to reverse replication for virtual machine 'xxxxx'. Virtual machine is configured to use a device that prevents the snapshot operation: Device 'xxx' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing"

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.8
vSphere Replication 9.x +

Site Recovery Manager 8.8
Live Site Recovery 9.x +

Cause

The VM in question has a SCSI Bus Sharing option configured as 'Virtual' or 'Physical':

Resolution

Note: Changes must be done on both production VM as well as the placeholder VM created on the recovery side.

Navigate the VM in question within the vCenter inventory

Right Click on the VM

Expand SCSI Controller(s)

Set the SCSI Bus Sharing parameter to 'None'

Re-run the 'Reprotect' task from the Recovery Plan
