Removing install.dir.XXXX directories from the /tmp folder

Issue/Introduction

After installation of the Web Agent (and other SiteMinder components) there are a lot of directories of the form install.dir.XXXX in the /tmp directory or other temporary storage locations

For instance

The question is what are those directories and whether they can be removed

Cause

These are temporary directories created during installation of SiteMinder Web Agent and other components to hold files temporarily. They are created in whatever temporary directory is used during SiteMinder installation

Once the product is installed and working properly their contents are no longer needed. If there is any problem during installation they may be needed for troubleshooting purposes

Resolution

The install.dir.XXX as well as associated files inside the temporary storage area may be safely removed once installation is completed and product is working properly
