Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) checks enable the user perform hardware compatibility checks against the set desired image to detect any compatibility issues that may arise during upgrade. HCL checks are done against the hardware present and desired state against the VMware Compatibility Guide matrix.
vLCM remains indefinitely stuck at “Checking for recommended images/Checking for HCL compatibility issues,” with the process failing to progress for hours until vCenter services are restarted.

Known bugs in Lenovo’s XClarity Integrator versions prior to 9.0.0 affecting successful task completion.
There are known issues with Lenovo XClarity Integrator (LXCI) version 8.6.0 and earlier releases that can cause VLCM tasks to get stuck or experience timeouts. To avoid these problems, please update to LXCI version 9.0.0 or higher, as these later releases contain important fixes and improvements.
