‘Network Adapters’ and ‘VLAN’ Options in DCUI Are Greyed Out or Disabled

Issue/Introduction

On some/all ESXi hosts, the "Network Adapters" and "VLAN" options in the DCUI may appear greyed out or disabled, preventing configuration changes. 

Environment

vCenter Server
vSphere ESXi
vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS)

Cause

Since a vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS) is managed at the vCenter level, it cannot be configured directly from the ESXi host. As a result, the related options in the DCUI are greyed out by design.

Resolution

This is expected behavior. When an ESXi host is using a vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS), network settings must be managed from vCenter.
