Identity Portal Tasks Timeline Not Showing Workflow Steps After Upgrade

Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading, the timeline within the Tasks module in Symantec Identity Portal displays only the "submitted" status.
  • Intermediate steps or transitions within the approver workflow are not shown.
  • The issue was noticed immediately after upgrade.

Environment

Product/Module: Identity Portal – Tasks Module
Versions Affected: Upgraded from 14.4.2 CHF1 to 14.5 GA

Cause

This change in behavior was due to an application issue introduced in the transition from version 14.4.2 CHF1 to 14.5 GA. The standard task workflow statuses failed to display beyond the "submitted" step in the user interface.

Resolution

Engineering addressed this issue as follows:

    1. Patch Release:

        - A Hotfix (HF) was developed:

        HF_IP-14.5.1-20250410152949-PARTIALLY_COMPLETED.tgz.gpg

        - The fix is referenced internally under ticket DE623496.

    2. Prerequisite:

        - Before applying the hotfix, customers MUST deploy Identity Portal 14.5.1 plus cumulative hotfix CHF01.

    3. Deployment Steps:

        - Upgrade environment to Identity Portal 14.5.1.
        - Apply CHF01 for 14.5.1.
        - Open a Support case to request the the hotfix HF_IP-14.5.1-20250410152949-PARTIALLY_COMPLETED.tgz.gpg file as provided by Support/Engineering.

    4. Outcome:

        - If authorized by Enginieering you will receive the HF
        - The tasks module timeline now properly displays all workflow steps in the approver process as expected.
