Issue/Introduction

vCenter upgrade precheck fails with below error:

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0

Cause

If the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) on the vCenter certificate includes only the vCenter IP address, proceeding with the upgrade using the FQDN may lead to issues.

Resolution

Initiate the vCenter upgrade using the IP address or FQDN based on the entries listed in the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) of the certificate.
