Error: "Cannot configure BFD for IPv6 BGP neighbor IPV6_ADDR on Gateway TIER-0" when updating BGP settings on a Provider Gateway

Issue/Introduction

• "Cannot configure BFD for IPv6 BGP neighbor IPV6_ADDR on Gateway TIER-0" when updating BFG settings on a Provider Gateway.
• Unable to configure and edit BGP Neighbor with IPv6 and BFD enabled.
• IPv6 and BFD cannot be enabled via Cloud Director.
• IPv6 and BFD can be enabled via NSX.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1

Cause

• This issue occurs due to a code change introduced in Cloud Director to prevent a Known Issue in NSX with IPv6 and BFD.
• The NSX issue was resolved, but the code change in Cloud Director was never removed meaning that Cloud Director would block the config even though NSX allows it.

Resolution

Cloud Director Engineering are aware of this issue and actively evaluating for a fix in a future release of Cloud Director.

Workaround:

• You can enable IPv6 BGP with BFD directly in NSX.

Note: This will need to be disabled if additional changes need to be made to the Provider Gateway.
