Issue/Introduction

DLP Email Prevent - Email attachments (.msg and .eml) files are being detected as ASCII Text

Customer attaches a .msg or .eml file to an outlook / owa email.

This attachment triggers an ASCII Text file-type policy.

 

Environment

All DLP versions.

Resolution

DLP Email Prevent is working as expected.

The email attachments (.msg and .eml) are being transmitted as .txt by the Exchange servers to Email Prevent.

This is an Exchange side functionality, that is transforming the files into .txt files and sending to Email prevent.
