Issue/Introduction

The ESX host may enter a no response or disconnected state in vCenter for a transient period soon after Certificate renewal operation is triggered for the ESX host.

Environment

ESX version lower than 8.0.3

Cause

During the certificate renewal operation, the VPXA service on the ESX host restarts, and it takes some time to come back up and connect to VC. During this interval, VC could mark the ESX host as no responsive or disconnected. This is a transient state. Once the VPXA service is up and connects to VC, the ESX host will be changed back to connected state.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in ESX 8.0.3 and above.
